III SIMPOSIO OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HISTORY AND CIVILIZATION OF THE VINE AND THE WINE

The quadrennial symposiums of the Association are a forum of encounter, exchange (of projects and results of investigation) and debates among investigators of the different disciplines that they study the vine and the wine in their historic evolution. In order to do the encounter, the exchange and the debate among investigators of distinct specialties, the symposiums they are open not only to the associates but to not associates and all the sessions of the quadrennial symposiums are plenary. The symposium itself structure in three areas of job:

 

1.       History of the vitiviniculture in Madeira:

 

The first session of the symposium (tomorrow of the Monday day 6) as well as the visit guided by the island during Sunday day 5 and you visit them to wine cellars that they be organized during the days 7 and 8 conform this area of job with the one that intends to know in situ and of first hand the Madeira vitiviniculture.

 

The intervention program of the session of the Monday 6 will be brought to light in the final program of the symposium.

 

2. Themes analysis Area selected to proposal of investigators

 

• In this area of job two themes of history of the vine will be analyzed and the wine by means of the presentation of communications.

• The two themes of analysis will be selected from among the ones that they are proposed for investigators that they desire to coordinate them.

• It will be tried that be a matter of you fear transversals and diachronic, this is, that they can be analyzed since different scientific disciplines and in their historic evolution.

• The methodologies of job of the sections in which these themes be analyzed will be the following one: analytic presentation of the communications admitted, on the part of the coordinator-relater of each theme; brief intervention of the communicants that want maize it indicated by the relater; and general debate among the participants of the symposium.

• The investigators (associates or not) that is proposed are accepted be the responsible for selecting the communications presented and of acting of relaters before the plenary one of the symposium presenting an analytic summary of the same.

• In order to do the debate upon the themes of analysis, the communications admitted by coordinators-relaters should be presented integrally with the time that be indicated and they will be published in the pages web of the Association and of the CEHA so that they can be you known by the participants.

 

3. State of the investigation upon the history of the vine and the wine.

 

Critical balances of the publications will be presented, the studies under way and the existing lines of investigation and disables relative to the different disciplines that they study the world of the wine in their historic evolution. The execution of these analysis corresponds to each one of the directors of the Executive Commission of the Association, individually or in contribution with other colleagues.

 

PREPROGRAM

 

• Arrival al place of celebration of the symposium during Saturday day 4 of October of 2003, in order to taking advantage of the reduction of fare air of end of week.

 

• Sunday day 5: visit guided by Madeira, in charge of the CEHA.

 

Monday day 6:

 

• Morning: Inauguration of the symposium (15') 1ª session of job: History of the vitiviniculture of Madeira (3 hours, with break).

 

• Late: 2ª session of job: state of the investigation by specialties (3 hours, with break).

• Night: Dinner of welcome offered by the CEHA

 

Tuesday day 7:

 

• Morning: 3ª session of job: presentation of communications on the part of relaters (3 hours, with break).

 

• Late: General Assembly of the Association (2 hours), the remainder of the afternoon would remain free.

 

• Wednesday day 8:

• Morning: 4ª session of job: state of the investigation by specialties (3 hours, with break).

 

• Late: 5ª session of job: presentation of communications on the part of relaters (3 hours, with break).

 

 Closure of the symposium.

 

• Night: Dinner offered by the CEHA (Centro de Estudos de História do Atlântico).
